Pralls Island is an unihabited island in the Arthur Kill between Staten Island, New York and Linden, New Jersey. The island is named for a descendant or descendants of early Staten Island settler Arendt Jansen Prall, likely his granson Abraham Prall who was a local farmer. The island is now owned by the City of New York and is maintained by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation as a bird sanctuary.
Prallsville Mills is a 10-building complex along the Delaware River that became part of the National Register of Historical Places in 1973. In 1794, John Prall Jr. acquired a property nestled next to the river that included a corn or gristmill and a sawmill. The mills became the heart of Prallsville, a village industrial complex that would continue to function into the early 20th century.

The song There's a Small Hotel by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart refers to Rodgers visit to the Stockton Inn located in Stockton, New Jersey. The song was written in 1935 intended for the Broadway show "Jumbo", but was cut from the production and ended up in "On Your Toes" the next year. The song was presented by Ray Bolger and Doris Carson in 1936, but has also been sung in two separate movies by Betty Garrett and Frank Sinatra and recorded by several artists since its original debut. Prallsville Mills is located only 0.5 miles from the Stockton Inn, and the inn and original structures of the Mill Complex were built around the same time in the early 1700s.
